Three steps, one appointment. Applications are accepted year-round for students in grades 6–12, and most families qualify for a Florida scholarship.

Who we serve

Grades 6–12, any time of year

South Dade Academy serves middle and high school students, ages 14–22 at the high school level, who want a structured, personalized path to their diploma. Students transferring mid-year, recovering credits, or returning to school are welcome.

  • Middle School (6th–8th) and High School (9th–12th)
  • Transfer credits from accredited institutions accepted
  • Re-enrollment for returning students runs March–June

  • Photo ID for the parent or guardian
  • Photo ID for the student
  • Withdrawal form from the previous school
  • Official transcripts
  • Immunization records — within 14 days of enrollment

Paying for school

Most families use a Step Up For Students scholarship

Florida’s FES-UA, FTC, and FES programs are applied directly toward enrollment at South Dade Academy. Apply at StepUpForStudents.org, then bring your award information to your enrollment appointment. Families who prefer to self-pay can set up a flexible monthly plan with our registration office.

  • Scholarship verification deadlines: Sep 1 and Oct 30, 2026; Feb 1 and Apr 1, 2027
  • Students attend in person at least 10 days each quarter
  • Approve school invoices within 30 days of receiving them
  • Required scholarship testing for eligible students in grades 6–10

What the first weeks look like

Orientation

Parent/Student Orientation is held before each semester (August 13, 2026 and January 7, 2027). New families are walked through schedules, expectations, and the learning platform.

Your student’s learning platform

Coursework runs on Edgenuity / Imagine Learning. The campus provides in-house laptops during school hours; students bring headphones or earbuds. Weekly progress reports are emailed to families.

Scholarship paperwork, handled together

Scholarship families approve school invoices within 30 days, keep their scholarship account current, and complete required testing for grades 6–10. Our office reminds you of every deadline.

Enrollment FAQ

Can my student start mid-year?

Yes. Applications are accepted any time of the year. Seniors who transfer or enroll after the school year has begun may not be eligible to participate in certain senior activities.

Do you accept credits from another school?

Yes. Students can complete all required courses at South Dade Academy or transfer credits from accredited institutions. Bring official transcripts to your appointment so we can build the graduation plan.

What does the school day look like?

Students work through one Edgenuity course at a time, typically completing each in 5–8 weeks, with teacher support on campus. The standard in-person schedule is Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., with flex sessions Monday–Thursday 1:00–3:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30–12:00 & 1:00–3:00 p.m. Exams unlock only during school hours.

How many in-person days are required?

Scholarship students must attend in person for a minimum of 10 days each quarter, per the Step Up For Students handbook. Your advisor will set the schedule with you at enrollment.

Is there a dress code?

Yes. Polos or t-shirts, hoodies, pants and shorts, and shoes are fine; no revealing clothing, ripped jeans or skirts above the knee, pajamas or slippers, or shirts with inappropriate content. Full details are in the Student/Parent Handbook.
