School Principal

Job summary

The School Principal is responsible for shaping a comprehensive vision of academic success for all students, whether in person or hybrid, ensuring that educational goals are met consistently. This involves creating a supportive and welcoming environment for both staff and students, promoting a mindset that values collaboration, growth, and inclusivity. The School Principal ensures that all departments, including Admissions, Student Services, Marketing, Recruiting, Security, and Office Management, are functioning at optimal efficiency. In addition, the role is responsible for regular engagement with the broader community, building meaningful relationships with families, community agencies, local businesses, public schools, and city officials to enhance the institution’s reputation and resources. The Principal reports all findings and progress to the Board members during periodic meetings to maintain transparency and alignment with organizational objectives, and evaluates curricula, teaching methods, and programs to assess their effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This involves reviewing learning materials to standardize curricula, while identifying areas for improvement to enhance the overall educational experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a vision for academic success, ensuring ambitious standards for all students in both in-person and hybrid settings.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for staff, students, and families.
  • Maintain and exceed performance and student enrollment quotas by setting clear goals and tracking progress.
  • Promote high staff morale by fostering a positive work environment and encouraging collaboration and professional development.
  • Enforce employee accountability through consistent monitoring, feedback, and support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the school community and external partners, including local businesses, community agencies, and public schools.
  • Review job responsibilities with staff on an annual basis to assess performance and identify areas for development.
  • Ensure that effective systems and processes are in place to optimize workflow and support the school mission.
  • Lead and participate in the accreditation process to ensure the school meets and exceeds required standards.
  • Cultivate leadership in others by providing mentorship, resources, and opportunities for professional development.
  • Manage all departments (e.g. Registration and Student Services), data, and processes effectively to support the school’s academic and operational goals.
  • Ensure all departments, including Admissions, Student Services, Social Media, Human Resources, Security and Office Management, are functioning at optimal efficiency and complying with board directives.
  • Generate reports as needed on student registration, financial data, and student enrollments.
  • Oversee and manage key software systems used within the school, including FACTS, Imagine Learning, Clever and other education platforms, to support student learning and streamline operations.
  • Present findings, progress, and strategic plans to the Board members during scheduled meetings to ensure transparency and alignment with school objectives.
  • Plan, lead, and ensure the recording of minutes of corporate meetings monthly for compliance.
  • Manage school resources and expenditures effectively to meet defined budget goals.
  • Comply with all company, federal, state and district safety and security requirements to ensure a safe and secure environment for students and staff. Lead the school management team in developing and implementing emergency procedures.
  • Ensure that the Assistant Principal is capable of performing the principal’s duties in their absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Earned Master’s Degree required. Three (3) complete years of instructional experience at a school site. Three (3) complete years of school-site administrative experience or a combination of school-site and equivalent district experience. Teaching Certification.
  • Proven experience in education administration with a strong background in secondary education settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in senior management roles within schools or educational organizations.
  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum development, classroom management, and teaching methodologies.
  • Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and managing resources effectively.
  • Supervising experience with a focus on staff development and performance evaluation.
  • Excellent public speaking skills to communicate vision and motivate staff, students, and community members.
  • Strong management skills combined with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Background in fundraising activities to support school programs and infrastructure projects.
  • Passion for working with students, fostering their academic success, social-emotional growth, and overall well-being.
