Curriculum
South Dade Academy is committed to providing our students with a top-quality education. That’s why we’ve partnered with Edgenuity, an industry leader in online education with deep expertise in core curriculum and meeting the graduation requirements set by the Florida Department of Education.
Edgenuity is fully accredited and approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), giving our students a head start on their collegiate journey. With Edgenuity’s standards-based learning and comprehensive course catalog, we can personalize the curriculum for each student, ensuring an engaging and enjoyable learning experience. Students are encouraged to log in during their assigned sessions and beyond to make steady progress through their coursework. Students work on one course at a time, with a typical course completion time frame of 5–8 weeks, to maintain a healthy flow of academic progress.
Edgenuity provides a daily assignment calendar for students, with each unit concluding with a final exam that is initially locked for security purposes. A facilitator must unlock the exam, which will remain unlocked for 30 minutes to accommodate our cybersecurity protocols. Coursework may be completed after hours, but exams are unlocked only during school hours.
Families receive weekly progress reports by email directly from the Edgenuity / Imagine Learning platform (sent from noreply@communications.imaginelearning.com), so parents can follow their student’s progress course by course.
Your Path to Graduation
To graduate from South Dade Academy, you’ll complete 18 credits as part of the FLDOE High School Diploma program. These credits will include core subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies and electives that let you explore your passions. We offer the flexibility to complete all courses at our academy or transfer credits from accredited institutions so you can tailor your education to your unique needs. Academic Excellence
We’re committed to your success. To be eligible for graduation, you’ll maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, ensuring you’re well-prepared for what comes next. You’ll also complete your final courses at South Dade Academy, where our supportive community will help you finish strong.

Life Skills
Our bell schedule includes Life Skills instruction alongside Edgenuity work periods and teacher support. In partnership with community organizations, Life Skills instruction covers personal growth and responsibility, communication and social skills, career and workforce readiness, independent living and decision-making, and preparation for life after graduation.
Technology
Our campus provides in-house laptops for students to use during school hours. Students are required to bring headphones or earbuds to class, as the courses include videos.
Flexible Learning Options
Students have the option to complete all required courses at South Dade Academy or to transfer credits from accredited institutions. This flexibility ensures that every student can tailor their educational experience to their unique needs and circumstances. Whether students choose to complete their entire curriculum at our academy or combine it with transferred credits, we are dedicated to providing a seamless and supportive transition.
